When I mentioned Baggers Original to my husband recently after receiving this lovely set in the post he was instantly transported back to his youth to a time when he and his siblings used to wear these very items too. Baggers Original are a range of raingear for toddlers to children aged 7-8 that have seen a new lease of life in recent times and relaunched after a 22 year hiatus in 2013. Baggers Original come in a set of two items – a pullover top and a pair of waterproof pants. These are lovely and colourful and easy to spot an over exuberant 3 year old tearing off ahead of you in the forest!
But where the real beauty of these lies, apart from their obvious waterproofing abilities, is the little bag attached on the inside. The way that the trousers and top fold into their attached bags means that the dirt stays on the inside until you get home to wash it – so no dirty hands, clothes or cars with this raingear.
We’ve had a lot of use out of our Baggers Originals since they arrived what with the weather recently being unseasonable warm albeit a little wet. I got a size 5-6 for our three and a half year old so they are plenty and roomy and should last at least another winter without being ridiculously big this winter either. All the girls Baggers Originals come in a variety of pink, green and orange colours with the boys coming in shades of blue and green. One set which includes a pullover top which button at the top to make the opening bigger and a pair of trousers with an elasticated bottom which fit perfectly over a wellington to herald the end of wet socks! Each item tucks into a little drawstring bag, both of which are labelled so you don’t have to pull an item out only to discover its the wrong one. I just think these are so handy, they are small and light enough to fit in a changing bag or a handbag without you even noticing. They range in price from £22.99 for the smaller sizes aged 1-2 years to £24.99 for the bigger sizes up to age 7-8.
