DIY display wall for kids art

the-two-darlings-17

It feels like an age since I have found both the energy and the headspace to get creative around our house. I also felt like we needed to settle in and get a feel for the place before I went lashing things up on walls or painting things crazy colours. I have lots more little bits done around this house which I will eventually a)finish and b)photograph but when I put this up on Instagram stories I got so many questions. Continue reading

Marks and Spencer school uniforms – one year on

We were lucky enough to work with @mandsireland when this lady first started school, she was kitted out top to toe for the last year in their uniforms. I've put together a blog post on what styles we loved and what we didn't. All in all though the quality was fantastic and her uniforms will be perfect for the next lady without doubt! This is a sponsored post!

With the arrival of the warm weather and thoughts of holidays close to mind it feels like a good time to update my first post on the Marks and Spencer school uniforms. The big lady has worn nothing other than the uniforms from Marks and Spencer so I technically have nothing to compare it to currently but I have myself worn my fair share of uniforms Continue reading

Finding the middle ground with breastfeeding

the-two-darlings-12

I really wanted to put some thoughts together on my whole breastfeeding experience, not because I want to pitch a tent in that camp, I don’t, I’ve said it a million time I’m neither ‘pro-breastfeefing’ or ‘pro-bottle’, I am ‘pro-feeding your baby the way you want to’ and that’s my stance on that. That said I do want to make comment on how I got on with breastfeeding, the good and the bad, and maybe it might give someone who is wondering about it all a bit of impartial advice. I’ve written previously about what I did differently this time round with this baba compared with my two previous attempts, so it wasn’t for lack of trying that I got it right eventually!   Continue reading

Ethaca promoting diversity

the-two-darlings-9

I find it funny sometimes to hear myself trying to explain things about life when I was small to my four (very nearly five!) year old. Telling her that there was no such things as phones that you can touch, that phones were stuck in the wall ‘back then’. She looks at me like I have ten heads and it makes me think about how drastically different the world is now in some ways. Stories my own parents used to tell me about life when they were young always fascinated me because it sounded like they were from a different era and now the time has come for me to hopefully fascinate my child while regaling her with tales of life really not that long ago.  Continue reading

Sulphate free hair products

precious nature alfaparf milano sulphate free shampoo sulphate free haircare alfaparf milano ireland the two darlings

I’ve mentioned before my now mild obsession with sulphates when it comes to the heads in this household. Even a tiny bit of research will alert you to how awful this stuff is and it’s in everything, although that said it’s not pure evil in every product on your bathroom shelf. But when it comes to hair and heads I really don’t feel there is a place for sulphates. We’ve completely switched now, the girls use all products from Elave which I’ve mentioned before Continue reading

Bloggers guide to working with brands

bloggers guide to working with brands

I attended a Blogging Event at the weekend and one of the topics was about bloggers working with brands or PR companies and with brands. I thought it was a really good topic to touch on and felt, even though my experience is relatively limited to date, I might have something to add. The first thing I would have to point out when it comes to this step as a blogger is that patience is paramount. Continue reading

The dawn of the era of big school

marks and spencer school uniform M&S school uniform ireland the two darlings parenting blog ireland

Parenting is a funny thing, even though those first few months and years are precious I found myself half willing them away until the girls were old enough to sleep through the night and give me some well earned zed’s. And then they reach that stage and with it comes an independence that can sometimes take you back. They want to go off to friends houses alone, they want to hide away in their bedrooms and play and they talk of going to school…. Continue reading

Tips for new bloggers

tips for bloggers tips for starting a blog tips for new bloggers the two darlings parenting ireland social media

This post on tips for bloggers is specifically related to blogging so apologies to those who have zero interest. I get a lot of questions from bloggers new and old on various areas from social media management to website design. I’ve also worked on a number of websites, from helping them set up their blog initially to streamlining and redesigning existing blogs and business websites. So if it is something you want a bit more advice or help on drop me an email. I have shared some of my tips here previously and will continue to do that as I got lots of advice from seasoned bloggers when I started and (not that I’m seasoned by any stretch of the imagination) I have put a lot of effort into the technical aspects of blogging and social media. So here are some tips I either found useful when they were given to me or tips that I figured out along the way. Continue reading

Cutting out the middle man

HOTEL (3)

This is the sort of post that has been on my mind for quite some time now but I wasn’t sure about posting it. As most will know from this blog I am a huge supporter of small businesses, women in business, Irish businesses, you get my drift. I also like a bargain and do not like getting ripped off. Just before Christmas I posted a picture of a watch I had ordered from an Irish based company that was cute and funny. However, the picture that was shown on said website was not the actual watch Continue reading
