I do love a bit of nail art and there is nothing more annoying than, when you make the effort to do something a little fancy, it chips within a day or two of application. So when I was sent the latest CND Vinylux Weekly Nail Polish collection, The Contradictions, to play around with I was really eager to see if it would stand the test of time on my overly abused nails. I had a CND Vinylux manicure in the Benefit Store in Dublin previously and was impressed enough to purchase a couple of bottles myself.
I’ve been playing around with the latest Vinylux collection now for a couple of weeks and am somewhat impressed. While I wouldn’t stand over the claim that it lasts 7 days I would say it does last a good 4 days on my fingers. It lasts way longer on my feet, I have the nude colour on well over a week now and it’s still going strong. It needs two thin coats (three for the nude colours) and the colours are really vibrant and really strong, no opaqueness here. Give it 8 minutes to dry between coats and then pop on the top coat. I would recommend the top coat, I used the red colour without it and within about 2 days it started to wear down around the tip of the nail. I didn’t use any base and even on the red it didn’t stain the nail bed which I was pretty impressed with. This polish is really easy to take off too – just use regular nail varnish remover.Again, as with all nail polishes I mention I have REALLY weak nails, I also have two small children and work at a desk and do a lot of typing so my hands and nails take a lot of abuse on a daily basis. I think these factors do heavily influence the longevity of even the best of nail polishes so on that basis I would rate this pretty highly in terms of last 4 days without chipping. I think if your nails are strong then this would most certainly last a little longer.
You can find CND Vinylux stockists here it’s usually found in Beauty Salons. It retails for €11.95 and I would recommend investing in the Top Coat too.
