Contouring and Highlighting in 3 easy steps

I went for a class with Sarah at Inglot in Mahon Point today and really enjoyed it. I decided to get her to give me some tips on the, ever daunting, topic of contouring and highlighting. She used their HD foundation (in 71) on me as a base and I have to say it gives incredible coverage but perhaps a little heavy for daytime wear for me.

The easiest way to show what she taught me on the topic of contouring is to show it in a series of steps – three in total – bronze, highlight and blush. The key to this entire process is to use tiny amounts of product and a light hand and to build up your product bit by bit until you’re happy with the look.

1. Bronze – I have a mixture of two contouring powders on me here – Inglot’s HD Sculpting Powder in 505 and 508 from their Freedom System. These were so nice I bought them both!

2. Highlighter – I would use my Mary Lou-Manizer for this usually.

3. Blush – Sarah used Inglot’s Face Blush in 24. Honestly the colour is so light I don’t think I would have ever picked this up but its perfect for adding another dimension, however subtle, when you’re contouring. I also bought this, I’m a sucker for a good blush!

    1. It’seems actually quite effective considering how easy it J’s! My pleasure to link up with the kids, your blog is an incredible resource and inspiration!

  1. I feel like such a poor excuse of a woman as I always see things about contouring but just until reading this post had no clue what it was. to be honest I love doing my makeup for nights out/special occasions but I don’t have the energy to spend proper time on it during the week! It seems simpler to me than I thought it would be though so thanks so much for sharing and for linking up to #MummyMonday xxx

    1. What a lovely comment! Glad my post was able to break things down, I used to thing it was a skill for the pros but honestly anyone can do it, I’ve incorporated it into my weekday routine so it does just take seconds when you get used to it! x
