It feels like an age since I have found both the energy and the headspace to get creative around our house. I also felt like we needed to settle in and get a feel for the place before I went lashing things up on walls or painting things crazy colours. I have lots more little bits done around this house which I will eventually a)finish and b)photograph but when I put this up on Instagram stories I got so many questions.
We are lucky enough to have a playroom for the girls and rather than fill the walls with Instagram worthy Scandi style pictures I wanted the room to be all about them. Plus their artwork has often ended up thrown away put in the bottom drawer of the filing cabinet so where better to store it than over their heads. The biggest lady could spend hours drawing and colouring and writing so hopefully seeing her own pieces on the wall will serve to reward her and inspire her sister to be as studious!
This DIY cost me the grand total of €6. I got two packets of vintage wooden clothes pegs in Dealz (there were about 16 pegs in each packet) and I also got two packets of double sided sticky ‘no more nails’ type tape. With a little help from my sister to measure the wall up so that the pegs were straight and evenly spaced this honestly took no more than a half hour start to finish, which included figuring it all out!
I used a string to keep the line straight as it saved me from measuring from the roof for each peg. And then I cut up the /no more nails’ stickers so that they just fit on the back of each peg, remains to be seen just how durable they are but it’s not like each peg will have much weight.
And there it is, a very simple, very cheap way to bring a bit of life and colour to a wall, this would also work lovely in a kids bedroom!
