I have not had the time to indulge in any fancy DIY’s recently, the constant presence of two very eager little hands means that most DIY’s end up discarded in a pile by a weary mother! When this box of treats popped through the door from silk bedding company Gingerlily I took the contents outside on a sunny day and while the ladies played in the trampoline I got busy creating a DIY photo holder.
I was tasked with creating something along the floral theme as this collaboration is ahead of the Chelsea Flower Show. I take tonnes of pictures of the girls but we’ve run out of wall space for displaying pictures so I thought I’d create something pretty that could sit somewhere practical and look pretty with or without a picture in it.
I also thought this would make a really nice centre piece for a dinner party and if I was truly organised and fancy I’d do up a little menu and pop it in this, how cute would that be! Or alternatively it could be used for holding cards or masterpeices created by small people, lots of options! So I got busy arranging the silk flowers into the oasis, cutting bits here and there until I was happy with how it all sat. I used the end of one of the longer flowers and attached a mini peg using superglue. This will hold the pictures in place.
*This DIY was a collaboration with Gingerlily and I was gifted the contents of the box in return for this post.
Back in high school I used to do so many DIY projects and I really had fun doing them. I am slowly getting back to it, it takes away the stress and seeing the result makes me happy 🙂 This is such a good idea, it looks lovely.
