The latest release in the Fairytale Hairdresser series came into our hands recently and we’ve been reading it at night with our 3 year old for about 2 weeks. This edition, The Fairytale Hairdresser and The Sugarplum Fairy, is aimed at the Christmas Market as the story revolves around Fairyland Villages Winter Ballet.
I hate to give a plot away in in a book review so loosely speaking a Prince goes missing, Kittie Lacey aka the Fairytale Hairdresser and her friends go on a mission to find him. Similar to the last book we reviewed it’s nice to see the female heroines. My only gripe is that I don’t understand why the female has to fall in and love and end up marrying the prince within the space of an page?!
The rest of the story was enjoyable and my daughter loved it but that portion did make my eyes roll towards heaven a little. That said, the story is nice and is is a good length for a 3 and and a half year old. The pictures are really lovely, the scenes they depict are intricate which means they get you talking through them with your child really involving them in the story.
All in all a nice book; a good overall story with lovely pictures throughout. Sure to leave any 3 to 5 year old girl with with a smile on their face going to bed!
