The ultimate breastfeeding pillow

I’ve used breastfeeding pillows before, mostly they serve one purpose, to make life easier when you’re breastfeeding a baby. Around our house since the smallest lady arrived you will often hear someone or other looking for ‘the hen’. The hen has become one of those unbelievably useful items that you don’t realise you need until you have it and then you wonder how you lived without it.  Continue reading

Next maternity clothes

I really think that finally I’ve found my groove when it comes to dressing a bump. This is probably the one pregnancy where I’ve been a little bit courageous in what I wear while at the same time I always, always put comfort first. Previously I’ve been sat at a desk for the vast majority of my pregnancies so if you’re uncomfortable you only have yourself to worry about. However, what I’ve learned this time round if you’re uncomfortable and trying to control two unruly redheads you start to sweat from places you didn’t know possible. Continue reading

Nimue – skincare worth investing in

Anyone who has read my blog for a while now will know I struggle with my skin having written previously about how to deal with hormonal skin and how to cover it all up. I have battled with bad skin pretty much all my life, I can barely remember a time where I haven’t had at least a couple of spots, that usually being a good skin day. A good few months ago now a group of us Continue reading

#GeorgeMiniMe party dresses for everyone

There are some things in life that you only get away with for a limited time, like eating sweets before it catches up on you and dressing your daughters in matching outfits. The time comes all too quickly where they are full of their own opinions and tastes which is a thing to be celebrated but also signals the passing of time from milestone to milestone. My two ladies are two years apart in age but my small lady is a four year old trapped in a two year old’s body. Eurocamp La Pointe St. Gilles Campsite Review

eurocamp la pointe st. gilles benodet campsites pointe st. gilles - bénodet la pointe st gilles campsite reviews
And so it’s back to reality after a wonderful holiday away. Our first week easy spent in England with my parents in law and after that we hit for Brittany, taking a fair chance as it’s climate, much like it’s countryside, is like Ireland, damp and green. After all the travelling we had done we wanted to pick somewhere that wasn’t going to result in a long drive with the ladies so we chose Sunelia L’Escale St. Gilles or La Pointe St. Gilles in Benodet Southern Brittany that was less than a two hour drive from Roscoff. Reformer Pilates with Flex and the City

I’m the first to admit I’m neither fit nor flexible at the moment. Last year was dominated by long working days and minding the ladies so I didn’t find much time to myself to get out and exercise. And as soon as I found myself with a tiny bit of time to myself I was pregnant and then it was too late to start. As most mothers will know we often tend to put ourselves and our own wellbeing last as small (and not so small toddlers!) are lifted in and out of awkward carseats or cots, Continue reading

The dawn of the era of big school

Parenting is a funny thing, even though those first few months and years are precious I found myself half willing them away until the girls were old enough to sleep through the night and give me some well earned zed’s. And then they reach that stage and with it comes an independence that can sometimes take you back. They want to go off to friends houses alone, they want to hide away in their bedrooms and play and they talk of going to school…. Continue reading

DIY floral photo holder

gingerlily silk flower DIY chelsea flower show the two darlings blog ireland

I have not had the time to indulge in any fancy DIY’s recently, the constant presence of two very eager little hands means that most DIY’s end up discarded in a pile by a weary mother! When this box of treats popped through the door from silk bedding company Gingerlily I took the contents outside on a sunny day and while the ladies played in the trampoline I got busy creating a DIY photo holder.  Continue reading

Get Crafty

get crafty ali coogan review craft book parenting blog the two darlings ireland

It’s funny, this blog actually started out peppered with lots of DIY’s I had done around the house and home. Lately I feel like I need to withdraw that claim as I haven’t done a single crafty thing (apart from mend holes in clothes) in months. So when I was sent Get Crafty by fellow blogger Ali Coghlan I was delighted, but not as delighted as the four year old who snatched it from my hands eager to get started. Continue reading

The importance of SPF in moisturiser

Up until recently I pretty much diagnosed my own skin type – and for the most part I was right, an oily t-zone that is really prone to hormonal and wine related breakouts. But there’s one thing diagnosing what you can see but it’s what lies below the surface that is truly interesting. I went for a fabulous treatment in The Heritage Killinard Spa recently and before we began the facial I had a skin analysis. This involves a UV lamp being placed near your face to expose area’s Continue reading
